Discovery Child - Learning Through Play

The Parent Involvement Program (PIP) is a program aimed at involving the parents in their child’s childcare environment with a goal of enriching the experience for both parent and child. Without parents’ participation and involvement, management and staff cannot provide the best environment for the child.

The needs of the child, and providing for those needs the very best we can, is at the centre of this program. Parents, management and staff working together to provide the best care for the children.

Components of the PIP

A) PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE: This group will spearhead the direction of the parent involvement program (PIP). Please see terms of reference for more information. Please see Karen Eilersen if you are interested in joining the PAC.

B) PARENT EDUCATION PROGRAM: The Parent Education Program can provide a great deal of insight into childcare, health and nutrition, parenting, behaviour management etc. There will be seminars held throughout the year.

C) NEWSLETTERS: Are a valuable means of communication and will be published monthly. They will contain recurring items such as: dates to remember, room news, parent meetings, social activities and PAC meeting reports, etc.

D) RESOURCE CENTRE: The childcare centre is a resource for the family. We aim to make accessing resources easier for the parent. A range of information will be available, free of charge, for families to borrow or keep. This is an ongoing project and new books and materials are added frequently.
