Discovery Child - Learning Through Play

A. Regular operating hours:

The Harvie Road childcare centre is open from 7am-6:00pm Monday to Friday. 
The Big Bay Point Road childcare centre is open from 7:00am - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday.

B. Statutory Holidays:

The childcare centre will not be open for care on the days listed below. These days, however, are included in the monthly fee and will not be deducted from the fee. Part-time customers who are scheduled for care on any statutory holiday will be paying their standard rate. We will also be closing at 12 noon on December 24.  

New Year's Day, Family Day (Feb.), Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day

In the event that a Statutory Holiday falls on a weekend, Discovery Child Care Centre will close either the day immediately before the holiday or immediately after (notice will be given). This allows us to give our staff a paid day off as required by the Employment Standards Act.

C. Late Pick-ups:

The childcare centre closes at 6pm sharp. A late fee will be charged for all pick-ups after 6:00pm.

D. Releasing a child From Care:

Unless instructed in writing to do otherwise, your child will only be released to the following persons: The child's parent/guardian The emergency contact person Any other guardian to whom the parent, by way of written authorization, allows Discovery Child Care Centre and it's staff to release the child. Any persons who the staff has not met before will be required to show one piece of photo ID before the child will be released. Children will only be released to authorized persons over the age of 16.

E. Closures

All Discovery-Centres will close the last week of July reopening the day after the August Civic Holiday as well as the week between Christmas and New Year every year.  There is no reduction in monthly fees in July or December as monthly fees are calculated based on a yearly tuition then divided by 12 months to create 12 equal monthly payments.    

For 2010:  All Discovery Centres will be closed:   July 26-30/10 & Dec 27-31/10
